Salt
Dough
Supplies:
4 cups flour
1-cup salt
1 1/2 cups water
assorted acrylic paints
Combine flour and salt in bowl. Add water and mix
well. Turn onto lightly floured surface and knead
until clay is smooth. Shape into desired shapes or cut
out with cookie cutters. Let air dry 2 to 3 days or
bake at 200 for several hours until dry. Paint with
acrylic paints and spray with an acrylic sealer.
Cinnamon Clay
Supplies:
1 1/2 cups ground cinnamon
1 cup applesauce
1/3 cup Elmer's glue
Wax paper
Cookie cutters
Straw
Ribbon
Mix cinnamon, applesauce, and glue together. Knead
until it turns into firm clay. Roll out to 1/8"
thick. Use cookie cutters to cut out shapes.
Gingerbread men work well at Christmas! Use straw to
make a hole in the top of ornament. Place on waxed
paper and turn twice a day until completely dry.
(Usually 4 to 5 days.) After they are dried, hang with
ribbon.
Soap Dough
Supplies:
3 cups Ivory Snow detergent
Liquid food coloring
1 to 1 1/2 cups water
Vegetable oil
Cookie cutters or candy molds
In a bowl: mix soap flakes and water to which food
coloring has been added. Mix until the consistency of
play dough. To shape dough, rub vegetable oil on hands
and shape. Roll out to a suitable thickness and use
cookie cutters to shape. For candy molds, press dough
into lightly greased candy molds. Let set 12-24 hours
before taking out of molds.
